Mothers Day Card

Mothers Day is fast approaching! I look forward to being spoilt rotten !!!

craft 170414 081

I have made this very pink card for my dear Mum, (hope she doesn’t look before Mothers Day) using:

  • Authentique Paper
  • Spellbinders Heartfelt Creations ‘Vintage Floret’ die
  • SU Bird Punch
  • Ranger Distress Ink

A close up of the flowers featured on my card,  I recently purchased the Die for these, they have a stamp set to match, but I chose not to use them for this card.

I still need to practice my photography skills, (sorry for the blurred image) or get a new camera 😀

That’s all for now, enjoy your Easter

Cheers Rhonda

Prima Doll Tag

I have been playing with some adorable stamps today, Julie Nutting Prima Doll stamps. I chose one of her newer ones, ‘Betty’, she is very sweet, don’t you think?

This reminds me of the old paper doll cut-outs we had as a child, they had a number of paper outfits to mix and match …. if my memory serves me, we could colour some of them ourselves. Who would have thought I would still be playing dress ups with paper dolls many years later  😀

I have pinned some paper dolls to Pinterest, follow this link to see a few examples of vintage paper dolls:

Tasmanian ATC Swap

Hello again,

ATC craft is one of my greatest pleasures. I enjoy the challenge of creating little works of art on a small card, (measures 2.5  inches by 3.5 inches) Sometimes I struggle with the size … similar to a saying my father used to use ..”your eyes are too big for your belly” in this case, my ideas won’t fit onto my plate!

I have recently joined a great ATC swap group, (Tasmanian group)  and have enjoyed 3 months of swaps to date. The group have such a varied artistic eye, I am loving the swaps I get in return.

When I start a months production  of ATCs (believe me, it’s a production!) I always start with what I imagine I will create, and after 2 and sometimes more attempts, I have a group of cards that may not resemble the original creation. I am my harshest critic, and making ATCs is definitely a creative journey. Remembering my first ever ATC with The Imagination Factory Swap, makes me want to cringe, it was not good! I hope I have progressed a little since then (4 years ago)

2014 March 051

January ATC: Dragon

The January swap was titled “Dragons” and  I was happy as I ever could be with my first draft.

February ATC: Flowers

The February theme of ATC’s was “Flowers”.  This is such a broad topic, I think I ‘over-thought’ this one! 🙂

This was my final draft and I sent it off to Tasmania. The stamp I used was a very old one, from Stamp-It, and it may have been the first one I purchased over 10 years ago. I used water colours on the stamped image, embossed and distressed the background and added some Ranger Liquid Pearls and lace remnants from my stash.

Another version that I liked, but rejected for this swap.

Black and White ATC

Black and White ATC

The  March Swap was Black and White: another broad topic. Just as I was about to start this theme, Shirley Temple died, so as a tribute to my favourite child star, I downloaded a picture from Google, embossed the background with “music symbols’ and used a Darkroom Door Music photochip

April ATC Owls

This months ATC swap is Owls. I had a Stampin Up Owl two step punch that i was wanting to put to good use, so i created my Owls in love cards. Although the picture doesn’t highlight it, I used a new tecnique for the background with a thin layer of a serviette glued to the background. I liked the effect but it’s not clear in the photo (may need photography lessons 😀 )

That’s all for today … enough don’t you think??

Easter Fun

Easter is just around the corner! I can’t wait for the little grandson to arrive and go for an Easter Egg Hunt: he loves Chocolate, he loves games, so it’ll be a win win! (or fun, fun 😀 )

I recently attended a Craft Group get-together (with like minded crafters, and papercraft  projects) and I came home to re-create some of these projects.

Firstly I created an easy card that has featured well on Pinterest as well as on my friends blog, as I’m new to blogging, I haven’t mastered the art of inserting links, so I will simply insert the web address for Lorraine’s Blog.

Find it here:

Easter Chook

Next I reproduced an ‘Exploding Box’ Although I don’t think it’s as good as the master copy, I enjoyed making this as it had a number of elements that I hadn’t used before.

Take off the lid and voila! It opens out, to expose the butterflies, bunny rabbits and the Treasure (egg)

The centre view (excuse the photography)

I have been busy with other projects as well, so my next post will feature my favourite stamp

Bye for now
